In fact, that drive can be dead within a few weeks or even a few days. Why? Because it is difficult for someone to stay committed to something if it means leaving their comfort zone. It is significantly easier to just sit on your couch, than make a change. Are you with me here, because it is for sure that without goals, you will never know what your capable of or have any self fulfillment.

Here are the seven surefire ways to achieving your goals:

1. Don't make excuses!: In my experience this is far and away the most common reason individuals cease making an effort. These people always try to validate their reasons by making excuses for themselves and blame external factors beyond their control.

2. Be realistic: When setting a goal try not to set it to some impossible standard. If your goal is to run a marathon next month, and you don't exercise at all, you are not going to attain it. Setting feasible goals for oneself is a way better motivator than biting off what you can chew.

3. Think small: When creating a seemingly unattainable goal use baby steps. For example if your goal is to lose 50 pounds, say yourself "OK I am going to lose 3 pounds this week, then 2 pounds next week." and so on and so forth. Grandiose expectations may discourage you and a negative attitude is poisonous to your health.

4. Positive attitude: Keep telling yourself that you can do it! Surround yourself with individuals who are supportive of you.

5. Write down your progress: On a piece of paper write down your progress on a weekly basis. Perhaps you can tape it to your bedroom door, that way there will be constant exposure to it.

6. Passion: This can go hand in hand with motivation. For example to stay committed to learning an instrument one must have a passion for music.

7. Ambition: Another critical component of pursuing longterm goals. In order to have ambition you must be willing to change and have some of the qualities listed above.
